Energy tariffs

SWALEC offers a wide range of tariffs to suit different households, including the following:

  • Better Plan – A green tariff that matches your energy use with 100% hydro-electricity and offers you a discount on your bill if you reduce your energy usage by 10% through energy efficiency.
  • Go Direct – A discounted tariff only available direct from SWALEC.
  • Price Fix – A fixed-price tariff that lets you fix the price of your gas and electricity for a set period of time.
  • Standard tariffs –Tariffs that offer SWALEC’s standard prices (so are not normally the cheapest). However, with certain standard tariff options you can earn 10% off purchases at Argos and Homebase. Or, you can choose options that offer donations to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the British Heart Foundation or your local Welsh Rugby club.

Other services

As well as energy, SWALEC also offers home phone and broadband services.

All its home phone packages come with unlimited local and national weekend calls and free calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers.

Its broadband packages offer unlimited downloads at speeds of up to 8Mb and come with a free wireless router.

History

SWALEC , founded over 50 years ago, was one of the original electricity boards, known at the time as South Wales Electricity Board.

It changed its name to SWALEC in 1990 and in 1998 it merged with Scottish Hydro-Electric to become Scottish and Southern Energy.

Now Scottish and Southern Energy is one of the biggest energy suppliers in the UK with four brands: SWALEC, Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro-Electric and Atlantic Electric and Gas.
