Sainsbury’s Energy

Household supermarket Sainsbury’s has joined forces with British Gas to offer customers gas and electricity deals, as well as solar panels and the opportunity to collect Nectar points.

Sainsbury’s will offer customers new energy deals and technologies such as solar panels, in a new partnership with British Gas.

The five-year partnership will allow customers to buy solar panels on the high street while doing their weekly shop, in an attempt to encourage more people to generate their own energy at home.

Sainsbury’s Energy customers will have now have access to the following:

Up to 10,000 Nectar points if customers switch both their gas and electricity to Sainsbury’s
Insulation deals
Solar panels
Home Energy Assessments for £45 -tailored energy savings reports for customers based on their individual homes, energy usage and domestic appliances.

History of Sainsbury's Energy

Sainsbury’s Energy was launched on September 18, 2001. Originally Scottish Power (www.scottishpower.co.uk) provided the gas and electricity for the Sainsbury’s service but from September 6, 2006, EDF (www.edfenergy.com) took over as energy supplier. From 09 February 2011, it is British Gas.

Customers already registered with Sainsbury’s Energy before its switch of suppliers will continue to have their energy provided by EDF. However, all new customers to Sainsbury’s Energy as from the 9th February 2011 are supplied by British Gas.
