Loft insulation

If you get a trained tradesman to insulate you loft, it could save you around £100 a year on your heating bills and it will only cost you £500. If you insulate (or lag) your pipes at the same time, that can add even more to your savings.

To make great heat savings, insulation is simply laid over the loft floor, between and over any visible joists. The ideal thickness of the insulating material is 270mm. If you have a cold water tank in the loft, make sure that you don’t insulate it.

Walk boards can also be laid over joists to provide access from the loft hatch to any water tanks or pipes.
