Energy giant E.ON has launched FixOnline 3, a new fixed energy dual fuel tariff which it claims to be the cheapest on the market.

The new fixed-price energy tariff from E.ON (www.eonenergy.com) is only available to customers who pay their energy bills by direct debit and sign up for online account management.

The energy supplier said the average FixOnline 3 dual fuel customer will pay £984 a year for their gas and electricity, saving them £64 a year or 12% compared to its standard tariff. Customers who sign-up to the new fixed price tariff will benefit from discounts of around 12%* on E.ON’s standard fixed monthly direct debit offline prices.

Keep a close eye on the energy market to stay on top of any price changes

E.ON claims its FixOnline 3 tariff is now the cheapest dual fuel energy product available nationally, despite other energy suppliers’ recent price cuts and brand new tariffs from British Gas and EDF.

“FixOnline 3 is the cheapest product available in 11 out of 14 regions, and is cheapest nationally when averaged across all regions,” said E.ON in a statement.

The new tariff is available as a dual fuel tariff or as just an electricity-only tariff, but has limited availability. Customers will be charged a cancellation fee of £30 for dual fuel and £10 for electricity-only if they switch from FixOnline before 1 December 2010.

Chris Eagle, commercial manager at Energychoices.co.uk said: “Because E.ON’s new deal is a fixed price energy tariff, it is the best option for customers who are worried about a repeat of last year’s unprecedented price rises.”

Eagle suggested customers consider switching energy suppliers to reduce bills, but warned that a fixed price tariff may seem like the cheapest option now, prices could change at any moment - they could even continue to be cut.

“Keep a close eye on the energy market to stay on top of any price or tariff changes,” he said. “Energychoices.co.uk brings you the latest energy news as it happens, so make sure you subscribe to our RSS feed and email alerts.”
