British Gas’ new WebSaver 6 tariff is the cheapest energy tariff available in most parts of the UK.

British Gas (www.britishgas.co.uk) launched a new discounted online tariff, WebSaver 6, and cut its standard prices today.

Many people could significantly reduce their energy bills by switching to WebSaver 6.

WebSaver 6 offers a minimum 6% discount on British Gas’ standard prices, guaranteed until 1 May 2011. The average annual energy bill with WebSaver 6 is just £899 for a medium energy user.

Chris Eagle, commercial manager at Energychoices.co.uk: “WebSaver 5, which this tariff has replaced, only guaranteed the discount until 28 February 2011, so WebSaver 6 is a better deal.”

WebSaver 6 is now the cheapest energy tariff in the following 10 (out of 14) distribution areas:

  • London electricity
  • Manweb
  • Midlands electricity
  • Northern electric
  • Norweb
  • Scottish Hydro
  • Seeboard
  • Southern Electric
  • SWALEC
  • SWEB

Customers must manage their account online and pay by monthly fixed direct debit. They can earn up to £73 off their bill by paying by direct debit and a £15 yearly dual fuel discount.

There is a cancellation fee of £30 per fuel for customers who switch away from the tariff before 1 August 2010.

Chris Eagle advised: “Many people could significantly reduce their energy bills by switching to WebSaver 6. Compare it against your current tariff now, using our energy calculator, to see how much you could save.”
