The Tariff

Scottish Power Discounted Energy tariff promises to keep your energy prices three per cent lower that its standard variable prices until 1 July 2009. However, your monthly payments may still vary depending on your usage.

Discounts

• You can still receive the dual fuel discount of up to £16.80 if you take both your gas and electricity from Scottish Power
• And if you take your accounts online you will receive an additional discount of £5.25 for gas and £10.50 for electricity

Advantages

Opting for means that you’ll guarantee to keep your energy prices below those of Scottish Power’s standard, offline, direct debit prices.

So if you’re planning on signing up to Scottish Power anyway, this is a great way to reduce your energy bills even more.

And you can still keep any dual fuel or online discounts that you qualify for. Online Energy allows you to manage your account online so that you can pay your bills, edit direct debit details and enter your own meter readings all at the touch of a button - and you’ll never receive another wasteful paper bill or an estimated bill again.

Disadvantages

This doesn’t mean that your prices are fixed - if standard costs rise, yours will too, though they will remain three per cent below standard prices until the offer expires.

If Scottish Power is the cheapest option for you to switch to you could save even more by going for the Discounted Energy tariff and keeping your bills down for more than a year.

And because you’ll still be able to keep your discounts - an annual total of up to £32.55 - you could save even more money - and time.
