Energy consulting firm announces profits

Thursday 6 March, 2008

It’s not just the energy companies recording huge profits for 2007. Consulting firms for energy companies are also in the big money.

UK’s RPS Group reported a 30% rise in 2007 pretax profits this week. The firm says its bottom line was helped by an in-demand energy market.

RPS offers advice to energy firms that are trying to gain planning permission for projects which develop natural resources and secure land and property. The company’s pretax profit rose to £45million in 2007.

A spokesperson for RPS released this statement:

"The requirements of the developed world to identify and secure long term supplies of energy, coupled with the increasing energy needs of developing nations, suggest that activity in this market will remain at a high level for the foreseeable future."

Chris Eagle, commercial manager for EnergyChoices.co.uk acknowledges the energy industry is benefiting from good turnover in 2007:

“Hopefully the large energy companies will continue to invest some of their good fortune in creating more green energy. Because of their large profits last year, consulting firms are reaping the rewards and their services will be in demand in 2008 as well.”
