British Gas has launched WebSaver 4, its cheapest online dual fuel tariff.
British Gas (www.britishgas.co.uk) has replaced its WebSaver 3 tariff with WebSaver 4, its cheapest online dual fuel tariff.
The energy giant says dual fuel customers switching to the online tariff will see average savings of £134 compared to its standard price tariff, with discounts of at least 6% guaranteed until 30 November 2010.
WebSaver 4 is available to both new and existing British Gas customers, and features paperless billing and online account management, and offer discounts for paying my monthly direct debit.
According to uSwitch.com, energy supplier EDF (www.edfenergy.com) still has the cheapest dual fuel tariff for the “average” user, but as this tariff is only available in 10 of the 14 distribution areas, not all households can benefit from the cheaper deal.
The new tariff from British Gas will cost the average user £994 a year for their gas and electricity, while the Energy Online v5 tariff from EDF costs £983 a year.
The new tariff from British Gas is available from today and has replaced the energy supplier’s previous cheapest tariff, WebSaver 3.
Customers will face a cancellation charge of £30 per fuel if they sign up for WebSaver 4 but switch energy tariffs before 28 February 2010.
Chris Eagle, commercial manager at Energychoices.co.uk said: “This new tariff will rival other online tariffs from EDF and E.ON - it will be interesting to see how the other energy suppliers react to WebSaver 4.”
Eagle advises customers to compare energy prices online to find the cheapest tariff available in their area. “You can keep a close eye on the energy market by subscribing to the EnergyChoices.co.uk RSS feed and email alerts.”
