Can I get a cheap deal without going online?
Hello, My parents are currently with First Utility for their energy requirements, I have to enter their meter readings each month as they do not have access to the internet.
The problem is that I am in the Armed Forces and will be leaving the UK for 8 months in April so will not be able to enter their meter readings.
So, are there companies that provide dual fuel without the need for meter readings carried out by the home owner? I have tried to apply for packages online but they always ask for an email address which obviously my parents do not have and I don't want to enter mine as I will be in the same boat as before.
Any help would be appreciated.

First Utility aims to keep its costs, and its energy prices, down by encouraging customers to go online to provide meter readings.
The firm offers smart meters in the Midlands currently, but is looking to roll-out meters for the rest of the UK later this year. Smart meters send readings to the energy company directly twice every hour so there is no need to do your own meter readings.
It is possible to call up First Utility directly to give meter readings, but they aim to talk callers through how to provide readings online.
If you are looking to move away from First Utility, there are other firms that do not require online meter readings.
However, the best dual fuel deals are usually reserved for those with access to an email address, but not all demand that you provide meter readings online.
The best deal available to your parents depends on where you live.
