Atlantic Electric and Gas, which is part of Scottish and Southern Energy, offers one standard energy tariff and has lots of payment methods to choose from.
Atlantic Electric and Gas has been owned by Scottish and Southern Energy, one of the biggest energy suppliers in the UK, since 2004.
It has UK-based call centres, one standard energy tariff and offers a variety of ways for customers to pay their bills.
Atlantic Electric and Gas also offer home phone and broadband services.
It is currently offering customers a month’s free energy if they switch online and pay by direct debit.
One month’s free energy
Atlantic Electric and Gas is offering one month’s free energy to those who switch online and opt to pay their bills by direct debit.
The rebate for one month’s energy costs will be paid in month 13, after 12 months of continuous service.
The Atlantic shop
Atlantic Electric and Gas is the only energy supplier to have its own online shop. In this shop (www.theatlanticshop.co.uk), Atlantic customers can get exclusive discounts on electrical goods such as TVs, fridges and washing machines.

- Standard gas and electricity tariff - You can use Atlantic Electric and Gas' eServices to manage your account online.
Ways to pay
There are a variety of ways you can pay your Atlantic Electric and Gas bill, including the following:
- Monthly direct debit – Paying monthly by direct debit is hassle-free, it helps you spread the cost of energy throughout the year and you’ll get a month’s free energy if you pay this way (see above).
- Pay online – Paying your bills online is quick, easy and convenient as the eBilling service is available 24/7.
- Pay by text – Set up text billing and when it’s time to pay, you will be sent a text telling how much your bill is. Simply text back ‘YES’ to authorise the money to be debited from your bank account. You’ll still receive a copy of your bill as usual.
- Standing order – A set amount will be transferred from your bank account to Atlantic Electric and Gas each month. The amount will be reviewed at least once a year.
- Paygo swipe card – You can use a Paygo swipe can to make payments at a time and size that’s convenient for you at any PayPoint or Post Office.
- Monthly swipe card – You can make a monthly payment at any PayPoint or Post Office.
- Quarterly on demand – If you haven’t set up another payment method, you’ll receive a bill every three months which you can pay online or by phone with a credit or debit card, or by post with a cheque or postal order.
- Pay as you go - You can choose to get a pay as you go meter to keep track of your energy use and only pay for the amount you use.
History
Atlantic Electric and Gas has been in operation since 2000. It was acquired by the Scottish and Southern Energy Group in 2004, but continues to operate under its own brand name.
