Utilita offer a fair prepayment tariff that it says is equal to standard credit prices.

Utilita is a small, independent energy company, based in Hampshire. Its name comes from the Latin noun “utilitas”, which means useful and beneficial.

Utilita says it has developed a “highly effective, cost efficient, fully integrated, way of operating” that allows it to offer significant savings and benefits to the customer.

Utilita energy tariffs

Utilita offers three different energy tariffs. Each charges different prices and allows the customer to earn different amounts of planetpoints:

  • energysaver – Customers get a 2.5% discount on Utilita’s standard prices and have to pay by monthly direct debit.
  • energysaverplus - Customers pay by direct debit and are charged Utilita’s standard prices.
  • Get Smart – Utilita’s pre-pay tariff, customers can top up online, by phone, by direct debit or at a paypoint.

Utilita prepayment meters

Utilita has started offering a prepayment tariff. It says that the tariff offers fair prices, equal to standard credit tariffs, and the prepayment meters it installs are smarter than standard prepayment meters.

Utilita’s prepayment meters come with hand-held “Freedom Units” which allow customers to see how much energy they are using in real-time.
