Old Welsh boilers are heading to the scrapheap with a new scrappage scheme from Npower.

Npower is launching a new boiler scrappage scheme for Wales.

The energy firm is offering a £400 discount off a new boiler when they replace one over 10 years old.

Consumers should act quickly to avoid disappointment

In February, the Welsh Assembly Government announced a boiler scrappage scheme for covering least efficient G-rated boilers.

The scheme provides £500 to 5,000 over 60s households on ‘G-Rated’ boilers with A-Rated systems.

Npower’s boiler scrappage scheme will cover boilers over 10 years old and is open to all households.

People over 60 with G-rated boilers can take advantage of the Welsh government and Npower schemes to receive £900 off a new boiler.

Kevin Miles, Npower retail chief executive, said: “It’s vital we play our part in supporting this government initiative.

“Customers can now enjoy £900 off the cost of a new boiler, which could be almost a third off the cost of an installation.”

He added an A-rated boiler could also cut energy bills by £235 compared to a G-rated model.

“However, with just 5,000 installs up for grabs, consumers should act quickly to avoid disappointment,” Mr Miles concluded.
