E.ON’s new online tariff shows how much you can save by going online for energy deals.
E.ON has launched a new fixed rate energy deal cheaper than its previous tariff.
E.ON’s new tariff FixOnline 7 is its cheapest energy deal and replaces its previous fixed rate gas and electricity package.
The tariff offers a 17% discount on E.ON’s standard dual fuel package and fixes energy prices up to May 31st 2011.
E.ON claims a customer on its standard gas and electricity package could save £231 a year.
Customers must accept online billing and pay monthly by direct debit.
The new deal, however, does not lead the energy providers best-buy league.
OVO Energy this week launched its New Energy Fixed Tariff which is the cheapest energy provider on the market in 13 out of 14 of the UK regions.
OVO’s online dual fuel energy deal offers average annual bills of £855.
E.ON’s online fix has an annual price of £902.45.
Chris Eagle, commercial manager at Energychoices.co.uk, said: “The new E.ON online deal really shows how important it is to go online to get the best deal.
“A standard E.ON dual fuel customer pays £1,151.63, but by going online the price is almost £250 cheaper.”
He added: “Further savings still come if you shop around and look beyond the ‘Big six’ energy firms, as both First Utility and Ovo now have cheaper online deals.”
E.ON’s FixOnline 7 is not available to customers on prepayment meters. A contract cancellation fee of £30 applies.
To receive for the discount on the deal, customers must register online within 30 days of getting an account number. Customers must also provide meter readings online when requested. Failing to do this can result in losing the FixOnline discount.
