Knowing more about their energy consumption would help people save on their energy bills, according to 80% of E.ON customers.
Having listened to its 15,000-strong customer panel, E.ON (www.eonenergy.com) has today launched its free Energy Fit Starter Packs, “designed to empower customers to truly understand their home electricity usage and help them save energy and money”.
Jim Macdonald, commercial director of E.ON's Retail business, said: “We're fully committed to helping our customers cut their energy use. We've listened and have developed this pack to help our customers use less and pay less, and in an industry first, we're offering a free energy monitor with exclusive software across all our energy tariffs.

"Why would we want to do that? Because helping people use less energy means lower bills, and lower bills mean happier customers who want to stay with us for longer."
The pack includes an energy monitor, worth £45, that allows people to view their electricity use instantly, and track how much they're spending on a daily and monthly basis.
It also comes with exclusive computer software to help customers track their usage and see how their “energy fitness” has improved over hours, days and weeks.
The free packs are available from Saturday 15 May for existing and new customers managing their bills online and paying by direct debit or prepayment meter.
