Click for Energy from British Gas

Tuesday 01 October, 2007

The UK’s biggest energy supplier today launched Click Energy 4, a new paperless tariff offering bigger savings and more control over their bills.

Click Energy 4 from British Gas (www.britishgas.co.uk) is an online-only dual fuel tariff that allows customers to benefit from no cancellation fees or tie-ins so customers would be free to leave whenever they want.

Customers can only sign up to the new tariff online - either directly at the British Gas website or through an online switching service - and to ensure that you continue to benefit from the cheapest prices currently available, you have to ensure that bills are also managed online - including entering your own meter readings.

Recent research saw utilities suppliers voted the worst offenders when it comes to sending out inaccurate bills - which is where the Click Energy 4 tariff, and other online tariffs also benefit customers.

Chris Eagle, EnergyChoices.co.uk commercial manager, said: “By entering your own meter readings you can eliminate estimated bills and ensure that you never overpay on your gas and electricity.

“Paperless and online billing saves suppliers money by cutting down man-hours for meter readings and cutting the cost of sending bills out - companies can then pass these savings onto customers.

“The run up to the clocks going back, when we’ll all be using electricity for lighting and gas for heating, is the perfect time to switch supplier or tariff and save,” he added.

Customers who sign up for Click Energy 4 but fail to sign up to online account management within six weeks will be switched to British Gas’ standard variable rate.
