British Gas’s latest online tariff, WebSaver 9, is 9% more expensive than its predecessor.
British Gas has replaced WebSaver 8, it’s most competitive online tariff, with a new tariff which is almost 9% more expensive.
WebSaver 9 will cost the average customer who signs up to dual fuel £82 per month - or £984 per year.
However, British Gas has guaranteed that WebSaver 9 prices will be 6% lower than its standard tariff until 1 November 2011.
WebSaver 9 is available as a dual fuel, electricity only or gas only product and customers will need to have access to the internet to sign up to this tariff as it comes with online account management only.
The energy giant has launched the new tariff hot on the heels of the recent deals launched by EDF Energy (Online Saver 7) and Npower (GoFix 3).
Across the UK on average the increase from WebSaver8 to WebSaver 9 is 8.93%, according to Energychoices.co.uk’s comparison partner, Energylinx.
