Fixed energy tariff guide
If you’re worried about the rising cost of your energy bills and want to protect yourself from further possible increases in the coming year then a fixed price energy tariff might just be the peace of mind that you’re looking for.
Fixed energy tariffs promise not to increase the cost of your gas or electricity - or both if you’re a dual fuel customer - for a set amount of time, even if prices across the rest of the market sky-rocket.
However, depending on the provider and tariff you sign up to, you might have to pay a bit more than the current market-leading tariff to be able to set your costs in this way, and if prices go down during your fixed price period, you could be left paying a much higher price per unit.
E.ON
E.ON (www.eonenergy.com) has launched its Price Protection and Energy Saver tariffs. These dual fuel deals allow you to fix your gas and electricity prices until July 2010 and you will also benefit if E.ON reduced their energy price at any point during the contracted term.
E.ON have also launched the Fixed Price tariff which allows you to fix your energy prices until November 2009. All deals provide a discount of up to 8% for paying by monthly direct debit and for every pound spent on your energy you will receive 1 Tesco clubcard point.
It is important to note that cancellation charges do apply. These are up to £60 depending on the fixed deal you choose.
