E.ON, offers 3 green tariffs. Here's a breakdown of what's available...

Go Green dual fuel

This tariff uses 100% renewable sources for electricity consumption and offsets CO2 emissions for gas usage.

Benefits to environment:
  • Electricity usage is matched with renewable sources such as energy produced by wind farms and hydro energy which reduces your carbon footprint and conserves energy
  • EON offsets the carbon dioxide emissions from your gas usage
  • Gives you access to energy efficient products and services from E.ON at a discounted price

Is it right for me?

If you have the money to spend and want to help the environment this tariff maybe ideal however if you don’t have extra money to spare but are concerned consider energy efficient ideas such as: boiling only enough water for one cup of tea instead of an entire kettle, turn off lights when not in use, switch appliances off instead of leaving them in standby mode.

Don’t forget:

The premium to use this tariff is high. Make sure you can afford the extra cost before signing up.

Go Green electricity

This tariff takes advantage of 100% renewable sources for electricity usage.

Benefits to environment:

  • Reduces carbon footprint and harmful CO2 emissions by matching every unit of electricity with one produced by hydro energy and energy produced by wind farms.
  • This tariff supports the use and reliance on renewable energy sources such as energy produced by wind farms and hydro power.

Is it right for me?

This is perfect for those who don’t want to commit both fuels to a go green initiative. However, remember you can’t take any other gas tariff unless it is E.ON Go Green and primarily the bigger discounts are rewarded to those who show loyalty and commit to dual fuel. Therefore you should consider switching both. Keep in mind the current expense of energy and the premium that goes with this green tariff and be sure you can afford it. With this tariff you can also get a free energy survey produced by E.ON which will analyse how energy efficient your home is and give you suggestions on how to reduce your carbon footprint.

Don’t forget:

Go Green electricity cannot be taken in conjunction with any other E.ON non-Go Green product. This means you cannot have E.ON’s green electricity tariff and take E.ON’s standard gas service.

Go Green gas

This tariff offsets gas usage through funding sustainable energy projects.

  • E.ON will offset the carbon emissions produced by the gas used in your home by funding sustainable energy projects through Climate Care, a carbon offset company which helps developing countries.
  • Climate Care’s initiatives include projects funded by E.ON to create renewable energy sources and help people living in India and Honduras become more energy efficient.

Is it right for me?

If you are interested in supporting Climate Care and the projects the organization is working on, this gas tariff is for you. Keep in mind the premium to use take this tariff each year. This tariff is recommended to those who don’t want to commit both fuels to a go green initiative. But remember customers can’t take any other gas tariff unless it is E.ON Go Green. Primarily the bigger discounts are rewarded to those who show loyalty and commit to dual fuel so consider switching to dual.

Don’t forget:

If you use gas and electricity, go with the Go Green dual fuel tariff. You cannot sign up for E.ON’s Go Green gas tariff and an E.ON non-green electricity tariff.
