This desire to go green is being felt in the retail sector with more consumers buying environment friendly products.
Research by Ipsos Mori shows one in five people in Britain said global warming was a very important issue facing the UK. More people said they wanted to ‘go green’ in the wake of the Stern Report and Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth.
The number of Britons who say they are concerned about the state of the environment has dropped since 2006 however it is still the highest it has been in 10 years. Many consumers have committed to recycling and using more green energy.
The study out by Ipsos Mori shows 15% of Britons buy environmentally friendly products when they shop. The people who tend to go green when buying products are middle-aged, affluent people with children.
