British Gas Energy Savers Report
British Gas (www.britishgas.co.uk) British Gas offers you the chance for you to evaluate the energy efficiency of your home for free, you do not need to be a British Gas customer.
1.7 million people have already completed their own Energy Savers Report and 91% of those say they found it useful in helping them save money for their homes.
What is it?
You will fill out an online questionnaire and receive your home’s current energy rating based on the answers you provide. The report will also suggest practical ways to reduce the amount of energy used each day to help promote energy efficiency.
The online questionnaire is simple to understand and only takes a few minutes to complete. Questions include: Is your house insulated? Are your windows double-glazed? and when was your home built?
What does it offer?
Each report is unique to your home and offers a range of solutions suited to every budget. For instance:
Energy-efficient radiators – if you install a new radiator, you will be using less energy as new heating products work more efficiently.
Central heating programmer – intelligent controller which adjusts the time your heating comes on to suit the outside temperature.
Hot water heater improvements - Unvented twin-coil hot water cylinders can heat up your water twice as fast and use less energy and provide stronger water pressure.
Solar Panels - They let natural sunlight produce around 50-70% of your hot water for free.
Showers - Fitting a shower could mean you use less water than a bath, which saves energy on heating the water. A shower may also help you save money on your energy bill and reduce your water usage.
Wall Insulation - This keeps around 33% more heat inside you home, saving around £90 a year on your fuel bills. What's more, it even helps keep your home cooler during the hot summer months. Insulating your home keeps the heat from leaving your house through thin walls. Thus, you need less energy to heat the house.
Towel Warmers - Towel warmers in the bathroom contain less water than a radiator and heat up quickly.
Loft Insulation – Insulating your loft keeps the heat from escaping through your roof, allowing heat to be circulated longer.
Savings
This depends on your current efficiency. Whether you make small or big changes to your home you can save money on energy bills through improving the efficiency of your home. For instance, if you have a 3 bedroom semi-detached house and install wall and loft insulation, you can save on average £200 per year, according to British Gas.
