Saving Summary

  • Save £184 on your energy bills (versus Standard tariff)*
  • Receive a minimum 6% discount against British Gas standard tariff rates for credit customers until 1st May 2010

Additional discounts:

  • Up to £73 if you are a current British Gas cash/cheque customer and change to Direct Debit
  • A yearly dual fuel discount of up to £15

Benefits

The major advantage of this tariff is the opportunity it allows you to take your own meter readings, therefore eliminating the possibility of inaccurate bills.

  • Cheapest online energy tariff of any major supplier
  • Paperless Billing. You’re notified when your bill is ready by e-mail
  • You’re responsible for taking your own meter readings, so you can ensure that you will only pay for the energy you’ve used
  • Available for new and existing customers

Is it right for me?

Essentially, if you’re prepared to run an online account and pay by direct debit then this is the right deal for you. WebSaver 6 is the cheapest tariff from British Gas.

If you currently don’t pay by direct debit, you’re missing out on potential annual savings. We recommend switching to this payment method.

If you’re currently on a standard offline tariff then you should take advantage of the discounts WebSaver 6 offers and transfer to an online account.

If you’re not terribly confident at dealing with online accounts or taking your own meter readings then this deal is definitely one to avoid, although the savings you could make if you took the plunge are considerable.

Don't forget

  • WebSaver 6 is only available to customers with credit meters
  • Paperless billing is as standard
  • Cancellation fee of £30 per fuel if you move to another tariff on or before 1st August 2010

* Verses British Gas standard tariff prices. Based on average annual consumption of 20,500 kWh for gas and 3,300 kWh for single rates electricity, rounded and including VAT. Prices as at 4th February 2009.
