British Gas Business Dual Fuel

British Gas Business (www.britishgasbusiness.co.uk) offers both gas and electricity to its business customers, with savings of up to 15% on each fuel you take.

British Gas is the UK’s most popular energy supplier, and already has more than 925,000 business customers, signed up to its range of gas and electricity tariffs.

Its commitment to “jargon free” contracts won it the first UK Crystal Mark accreditation and all business customers get a direct line to contact their personal, dedicated account manager.

Advantages

As well as getting one of the most trusted names in the market, customers who switch to both British Gas Business gas and electricity can save up to 15% on their energy bills.

You have the option to pay by either Direct Debit or BACs, but paying by Direct Debit means that you’ll never miss a payment and you’ll also be able to take advantage of even more savings.

All contracts are also portable, so you won’t incur any hidden costs if you decide to move premises, and all accounts can be managed online where you can access usage and billing information and change direct debit details.

How do I switch?

Switching to British Gas Business is easy and simple - just fill in an online form to get your quote and apply, and British Gas will take care of all the paperwork and make sure that your switch goes as smoothly as possible.

It usually takes between six and eight weeks for your switch to go through, and if your gas and electricity are currently supplied by separate suppliers, it’s unlikely that the two utilities will be switched over on the same date.

Before switching you should check that you’re not currently tied to a different supplier as business energy contracts usually last between two and five years.

What tariffs are available?

Three types of contract are available for British Gas Business Gas:

  • Firm contracts: These contracts offer a fixed price for a fixed term and are the most popular contract
  • Interruptible contracts: These contracts offer a lower price than firm contracts, but qualifying customers - who use less than 200,000 therms per year - must agree to interruptions in their gas supply, sometimes at short notice but only to an agreed maximum number of days per year
  • Tailored agreements: If your business has particularly high usage needs, or other unique requirements, British Gas Business will tailor a contract to your individual needs.

Six tariffs are available for British Gas Business Electricity:

  • Fixed term: These contracts are set for a fixed period of time, ranging from three months to seven years
  • Evergreen contracts: These regularly renewing contracts refresh after a set period, at which point you have the choice of allowing the contract to continue for a new contracted supply period or give notice that you’re leaving
  • Fixed price or Indexation: A fixed price contract sets your electricity costs for the duration of the contract, while an indexation contract ties costs to the wholesale electricity market. This poses a higher risk if wholesale costs rise, but because of this it’s often cheaper than a fixed price contract
  • Half-hourly: A half-hourly metered account for customers using more than 100kw
  • Non half-hourly: A non half-hourly metered account for customers using less than 100kw
  • Renewable source electricity: Getting your electricity from a renewable source is not only great for the environment, it will also mean that you’ll be exempt from Climate Change Levy charges

Is British Gas Business right for me?

With the promise of savings up to 15% on current energy bills, British Gas Business is hard to beat.

Make sure that you compare prices, and do an online quote to find out exactly how much you’ll be saving, and talk to an advisor to find out which tariff is best for your business.
